Resin driveways

Resin-bound driveway costs in Kent: what affects your quote?

The cost depends on the measured area, the existing conditions and the work included in the written scope. This guide explains what to compare; it does not claim one price applies to every property.

Which site factors affect the quote?

Two driveways that look similar in a photograph can need different work. Ask the installer to explain which measured and visible factors are included.

  • Measured area and layout: The measured footprint, shape, boundaries and amount of surfacing included in the proposal.
  • Existing surface and preparation: What may be retained, what needs removal and how the underlying base will be assessed. Photographs help describe what is visible but cannot confirm the hidden construction.
  • Access and removal: Delivery and working access, any removal in the agreed scope, and how waste and disposal are handled.
  • Edges and transitions: The boundaries of the work and how the proposed finish meets walls, doors, paths, covers and neighbouring surfaces.
  • Levels and drainage: Existing falls, thresholds and any observed water concerns. A quote should name drainage work only where it has been assessed and included.
  • Specified finish: The resin-bound system and aggregate blend identified for the project. Check the product details and included quantities in the written scope.

What should a written quote set out?

Ask for enough detail to see what the quoted price includes and what would need another decision or assessment.

  • The measured area and the boundaries of the proposed work.
  • The specified materials and finish, with product details where available.
  • Preparation, removal, waste, access, edges and drainage items that are actually included.
  • Assumptions, exclusions, allowances and conditions that need further inspection.
  • How any change to the agreed scope would be described and approved.

How to compare resin driveway quotes

Give each installer the same sketch, photographs and description. Compare the measured area, named materials, preparation, access, included work, exclusions and allowances side by side. A lower figure may cover a different scope; without matching details the prices are not directly comparable.

Questions to ask before accepting

  • Has the area been measured, and which boundaries are included?
  • What is known about the existing surface and what still needs checking?
  • Are removal, disposal, access, edges and drainage included or excluded?
  • Which materials and product details are part of the quote?
  • How will unexpected conditions or changes to the scope be priced and agreed?

Why a guide rate is not a property-specific quote

Per-square-metre arithmetic can illustrate a measured area, but it cannot confirm preparation, access, drainage or inclusions and exclusions for one property. Read the Canterbury project estimate based on completed DPK work, then use a written quote for the actual scope.

See the 30 m² Canterbury project estimate based on completed DPK work. Read the downsides of resin driveways guide for other practical limitations.

For the service scope, see the resin-bound driveway page, or send your measurements and project details using the contact form.
